NBA & COLLEGE BASKETBALL - Buy Points - Moving the Pointspread on Bodog Sportsbook

Definition

To "Buy Points" means that you can move the pointspread so that you give away less points with the favorite or get more points with the underdog, for both football and basketball. To do this, you must pay an extra 10% for each ½ point you buy in your favor. You may buy up to 1 point.

Also note that for the NFL and College football, there is no buying off 3 (from +3 to +3.5 or higher, or from -3 to -2.5 or lower) and there is no buying through three (from +2.5 to +3.5 or the reverse -3.5 to -2.5). Please note that there is a premium for buying on to 3 (from +2.5 to +3 or from -3.5 to -3) of 15% more in the NFL and 5% more in college football.

Examples:

New York Jets are 6-point underdogs. To move the line to +6.5 points, you would buy ½ point and pay extra 10% (now you lay $120 to win $100, whereas at +6 points you would have laid standard odds of $110 to win $100, or -110).

If the Jets were 2.5-point underdogs and you wanted to move the line to +3.0 points, you would buy ½ point and lay an additional 25%, 10% for the ½ point and 15% for buying onto 3 in the NFL. Now, you would have the Jets +3.0, risking $135 to win $100 (or -135).

Similarly, if Wisconsin is a 3.5-point favorite and you want to buy to -3, you would buy ½ point and lay an additional 15%, 10% for the ½ point and 5% for buying onto 3 in college football. Now, you would end up with Wisconsin -3, risking $125 to win $100 (or -125).

Note: This table is based on an original line of -110 (risking $110 to win $100).

Rules

1. Points can only be bought on standard odds (-110). Point buying is not allowed on off-standard odds.
2. Wagers must be on the outcome of a single event or game and all standard rules apply.
3. The team wagered on must win by the pointspread you have bought.
4. Maximum number of points to buy is 1.
5. No buying off or through 3 in the NFL or college football.
