The Dallas and San Antonio series is getting most of the media play in the Western Conference, but there is another great match-up going on.

Phoenix (+5) at L.A. Clippers

Phoenix enters tonight’s Game 6 with a 3-2 advantage over the L.A. Clippers. The reason the Suns have the edge is because of their 125-118 double overtime win on Tuesday night. Phoenix blew a 19 point third quarter lead in that game, and they have to be thanking their lucky stars that they didn’t completely implode.

Now the teams head back to Los Angeles and will try to regroup both physically and emotionally. While both squads are sure to be tired less than 48 hours after their battle, the Suns are at a slight disadvantage having only gone seven deep in players on Wednesday. The Clippers went eight deep in that game.

One player sure to be a little worn tonight is Shawn Marion. Marion went 55 minutes for Phoenix and had 36 points and 20 rebounds. Los Angeles’ dynamic duo of Elton Brand and Sam Cassell also played 55 and 50 minutes respectively and combined for 65 points.

These teams split the first two games in Los Angeles with Phoenix winning Game 3, 94-91 as a four point underdog. The Clippers then won Game 4, 114-107 as a five point favorite.

If you followed the Clippers closely this year, then you know they are not ready to end their season. This is a team that brought the franchise to its greatest heights since 1976 by winning their opening playoff series against Denver.

Players like Brand and Cassell have barely heard of Bob McAdoo and Randy Smith, the two stars from the 1976 Buffalo Braves’ team that was the original stop of the Clippers’ franchise .

The Clippers' players have dealt with a lot of adversity just to get to this point, and I don’t see them giving up easily in front of their faithful crowd. Look for Los Angeles to win a close game and send it back to Phoenix for an exciting Game 7.
