NBA
Playoff Picks - Detroit (-5) at Cleveland
Wow, who would have thought
this series would come to this point.
The Pistons are down 3-2
and will be going fishing with a loss tonight.
That is quite a turnaround for a team that was
the heavy favorite to win the NBA title just a
few days ago.
Cleveland has won three straight
games to rally from an 0-2 deficit. They know
that this is a do-or-die game for them because
they can’t afford to go back to Detroit
for a Game 7. If LeBron James and company are
to move on to the Eastern Conference finals, they
have to get the job done tonight.
The metrics say that Cleveland
plays well at home (26-19-1 ATS), while the Pistons
are 19-24-2 ATS on the road. Here is another interesting
nugget, the Cavaliers are 9-0 at home after a
win of four or less points, and we get a bonus
of +5 points in Game 6. Cleveland also plays well
when coming home after a win, 19-8-1.
It all adds up to one super
charged and power packed Game 6. I don’t
think Cleveland will ultimately win the game,
but it will be very close. Take the points.
Pick: Cleveland
NBA
Playoff Picks - San Antonio (+1.5) at Dallas
Let’s throw the metrics
out the window for this game. Dallas leads the
series 3 games to 2 and has the Spurs playing
an up and down game. That is not Spurs’
basketball.
The bad news for Dallas in
this game is that guard Jason Terry is suspended
for punching Michael Finley in a very sensitive
region of his body. Terry’s absence means
more playing time for Devin Harris and Jerry Stackhouse,
both of whom will be playing 40 plus minutes.
Even with Terry out, I don’t
believe the Spurs can out-score Dallas. This game
is all about the home court, and Dallas has that
huge advantage.
It’s been a long time
coming and I think the changing of the guard has
finally arrived in the Western Conference. Dallas
will close out San Antonio on their home floor
and wait for the winner of the Suns and Clippers.
Pick: Dallas
